Engineering in the Cloud: Why Everyone at MetaPhase Should Care

That was one of the key takeaways from my recent OrangeTalk, where I had five minutes to make the case that cloud engineering belongs in everyone’s vocabulary, not just those with DevOps in their job title. OrangeTalks, MetaPhase’s bite-sized showcase for internal innovation and expertise, offering a unique platform to break down silos, sparking new thinking, and bringing the entire company closer to the cutting edge of technology. 

My OrangeTalk wasn’t a technical deep dive. It was an invitation to analysts, designers, project managers, recruiters, and everyone in between to see cloud engineering not as an abstract IT function, but as a shared language of modern delivery. I walked through the basics: what the cloud is, why federal agencies are moving to it, and who makes it all work. But more importantly, I highlighted why we all need to understand it. 

Federal clients don’t just want cloud solutions. They want cloud-smart solutions. They want cross-functional teams that speak the same language, align around the mission, and move with purpose. When a business analyst understands what a landing zone is, or when a project manager knows what a CI/CD pipeline does, we reduce friction, enhance trust, and accelerate outcomes. Cloud engineering becomes a bridge, not a barrier.
